JOEL OSTEEN Daily Devotional for 8th March 2025 Saturday
Today’s Topic: Chosen
Scripture: When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles.
Luke 6:13, NIV
Today’s Word
When Jesus chose His disciples, He didn’t go to the synagogue to find the candidates with the best credentials. He didn’t run an ad on ZipRecruiter to get the most qualified. He chose Peter, a hot-tempered fisherman who cursed people out.
He chose Matthew, a despised tax collector who was known for being dishonest. What if Jesus would have hired a consulting firm to review His choices? “We’re sorry, but none of the twelve men You submitted are qualified to be disciples.
Peter is given to fits of rage. Thomas has a doubting spirit that undermines morale. Matthew has integrity issues and is blacklisted by the Jerusalem Better Business Bureau.” Jesus took all that into account and still chose them, just as He has chosen you. Get this down in your spirit:
You’ve been chosen by the Creator of the universe. You belong to God’s family. He calls you a masterpiece, fearfully and wonderfully made. Don’t let fear, insecurity, or guilt keep you from your greatness. Step up to who God created you to be.
Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You that You see world changers in rugged fishermen like Peter. Thank You that You chose me and You’re working in my life just as You did in Peter and the other disciples. I am looking beyond my flaws and failures to see the masterpiece in the making. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
TODAY’S INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE: Could it be if you don’t rise up and put a stop to what’s hindering you, then generations from now, your family will still be struggling with it? God is saying, “This is your time. This is your moment.” Your destiny is calling out to you. You can either put up with it and let it conquer you or you can put your foot down and say, “No, I’m going to put a stop to what’s holding us back. I’m going to deal with this addiction, this anger, this compromise, this depression. I’m not going to let my history keep me from my destiny.”
We all have things that look dead in life, like it’s over: a child is too far off course, the sickness is too big, the dream is too great. It’s not possible now. It’s too late. The key is: don’t focus on the deadness of what you have; focus on the greatness of our God. He flung stars into space. He spoke worlds into existence. Nothing is too difficult for Him. Yes, we have situations that look impossible, but we know God can do the impossible. Dare to believe that what God promised will still come to pass.
